Hi Molly

When trying to stop gambling access to money needs some controls on it. E.g putting most o ur money in an account you cant access easily. Or you could leave your cards at home when you go out and only take enough cash 4 a couple o beers.

Give the gambling helpline a call aswell. May seem drastic but its good to know. That all the money you have lost on the machines is paying 4 this service aswell.

Hi Molly,

I empathise with you as I have the same problem which has caused me from being fun loving to chronically depressed. I did manage to give up for 5 months and felt wonderful but recently just had a relapse - so trying again.

One thing I did do financially which helped is to have two bank accounts at separate banks. I have one where I depost the main of my money ( I don't have an Eftpos for this acc) Now I just transfer $100 at a time as needed to the other bank acc to cover daily expenses. I also have my credit card with Gem Visa and had them remove the Cash advance option.

I hope this will be helpful.

Was thanked: 1 time(s) in 1 post(s)
If you ever again you sit in front of a machine tell yourself first "I am doing exactly what these machines are designed to do and they are robbing me of my money, precious time with family and friends and will once again leave me severely depressed"
Then get up and leave these insidious evil machines behind forever.

Don't let them beat you - You can do it.
